Keep sleep OFF

Aloha Amigos!
Feeling sleepy is something I encountered a lot during my JEE preparations :p.
Here are some of the tried and tested foolproof hacks (as in my language) which will solve your problem:
  • Develop a habit of reading and understanding things fast. This will help you a lot.
  • Try to take most of the food in breakfast ,a light dinner( try avoiding much rice made stuffs in lunch),and have a very light dinner.(trust me!!! I didn’t eat anything made outside my home & my mumma took special care of my diet during my preparation time.Sometimes it was monotonous and fustrating but at the end it was all worth.)
  • Take power naps (it is a short sleep taken during the working day in order to restore one’s mental alertness). These power naps are very helpful in improving health issues also like blood pressure, stress etc.
  • Adding some science into it.You must have have experienced that sometimes when you get up then also you are not satisfied with it.Also it must have happened that you got up early but still you don’t feel sleepy anymore.
  • The thing that happens is that our body and brain have some sort of time intervals which contain of a light sleep and a deep sleep each.Everytime you complete a deep sleep interval then your body gets re energized. This normally takes around 40–50 mins.
  • Listening to loud music increases mental alertness just make sure that they shouldn’t be too emotional.I preferred listening to just beats and tunes.Same can be done by chewing things like chewing gum, elaichi, cloves(loong).
  • Meditate for sometime in the evening(make your mind completely free of all thoughts ,thank god for whatever you achieved ,make plans for the goals to be achieved)
Wishing you good luck!
Mahalo guys!

It’s not about being violent, it’s self defense

Getting punched in the face is a sobering experience. But it also teaches you that you are stronger than you think. But many people don’t want to go through that process of pain We as human beings don’t like getting hurt. We are naturally averse to pain and instinctively shy away from it. The paradox of combat sports/ systems whatever is that a lot of good strategies are tending to counter intuitive to some degree. People very easily confuse karate as a violent sport. It isn’t a combat fight sport which promotes violence. Rather karate is for self-defense purposes. Even Karate means empty hand self-defense art.  In the beginning the ability to defend against an attack falls back to free fighting techniques. Defense relies on the easiest and perhaps favorite techniques. The advantage here is having been attacked in class, a confrontation on the street is not a new situation. Distancing is second nature. Reaction become automatic. As one progresses the underly...

Defeating the terror of Mathematics

Namaste! If you are also one of those who has the fear of Mathematics then you have come to the correct place. Directly coming to the question, I talked with some students who feared solving maths problems and found that the main cause of this terror is skipping the basics. Most of the students with whom I had a talk, were not clear with their basics. I remember I had a classmate who didn't even know how to divide numbers but was studying topics like HCF & LCM. It was for sure that he won't be able to score in the tests and the same did happen. The key to getting rid of this terror is to make the basics clear and then gradually proceed to the higher-level questions. Start with the basic level problems, study and understand the theory properly, move to the next topic and repeat this process. Just make sure you are following the order and not skipping anything. Following this method, you will soon build up confidence as you keep on increasing your level. Consistency i...
