Test series(the real mystery)

Aloha Folks !
Hope you are doing good with your preparations. Many of you might  have completed their JEE syllabus and may be planning about what to do next, and some of you may be still in the syllabus completion stage. For people from  both these lots you need to enroll into some test series in order to hone your problem solving skills and get a taste of the real exam like environment.
For those who have completed the syllabus:
  • If you are in a coaching centre then you must have enrolled in their respective test series. If not ,then go for one .Keep one thing in mind that if your actual test is going to be online then the test series you join should also provide you with online test experience.
  • Don’t go for test series which have difficulty level of questions way above than the actual exam. They aren’t of any use until you just want to have some very much fun with those questions and not focus on the actual exam .
  • Start giving timed full syllabus tests at home also in the same exam like environment which you will have during your actual test. Also try to fit in the same timing slots as it will be on The Day.
  • Stick to your starting and ending timings as in the actual exam no matter what happens you won’t get any extra time.
  • Keep the ending time around 15-20 mins less than the actual 3 hours time. This exercise is to be done as in the actual exam day these 15-20 mins will count for the pressure that you feel in the exam hall.
  • Make sure that after giving the test you go through the paper and check your solutions. If you made a mistake then make note of it so that you don’t repeat it again.Overtime you will see that whenever you are going to make a mistake you will be reminded not to do it 😛
  • Silly mistakes cannot the eliminated completely but can be reduced overtime with the above practice.
  • Remember that the test series are mostly have questions which are a little above the original paper but this is required as you will need to train yourself for the worst situation also, remember JEE paper may have any level of difficulty.
  • If you don’t perform well in some tests then don’t let yourself down.Figure out the mistakes that you made and work upon them.As I always say ,keep in mind that your goal is to progress everyday. Don’t make any rank as a goal but try
(stress on try) to improve upon yourself everyday.
For those who are still in the syllabus completion phase:
  • Don’t worry you aren’t far enough from others. And when I say it I mean it also.
  • Keep on completing your syllabus and along with that whenever you get time try to give part tests of the syllabus that you have completed.
  • You will have to make out time for this.Remember that JEE should be at your topmost priority and you should give your optimum time to it.I won’t say that it is going to be easy but it will be definitely worth it.
  • And when your syllabus gets completed then move on to full tests and follow the tips given above.
  • Main aim of test series is to prepare you for the real exam while revising the complete syllabus. So,keeping this in mind keep revising also, once you complete the syllabus.
At the end it all boils down to the exam temperament that you are going to gain by giving these tests .I know it is going to be difficult at times and sometimes too monotonous. But if it is not challenging you then it isn’t going to change you.
So, TRAIN HARD AND WIN EASY!!!
Mahalo !!! Good luck!!!

Greetings Friend! Now without wasting your time, directly let's come to your question. I would suggest you read this article and understand it fast. Preparing for Mains January's attempt, you don’t have to worry about your board exams anymore. You have experienced the real exam environment & you know well about the process that takes place in the exam. You are aware of the mistakes that you made earlier.Take a note of them. This year you should be in a win-win situation & for that, these mistakes and consistent work towards your goal will help you out. How do I complete such a big syllabus? First of all the syllabus isn’t big. We make it feel big to us. Hacks (my language)for making the syllabus small: 1st one I have discussed in the starting of the answer. Most of the chapters are linked. When...

It’s not about being violent, it’s self defense

Getting punched in the face is a sobering experience. But it also teaches you that you are stronger than you think. But many people don’t want to go through that process of pain We as human beings don’t like getting hurt. We are naturally averse to pain and instinctively shy away from it. The paradox of combat sports/ systems whatever is that a lot of good strategies are tending to counter intuitive to some degree. People very easily confuse karate as a violent sport. It isn’t a combat fight sport which promotes violence. Rather karate is for self-defense purposes. Even Karate means empty hand self-defense art.  In the beginning the ability to defend against an attack falls back to free fighting techniques. Defense relies on the easiest and perhaps favorite techniques. The advantage here is having been attacked in class, a confrontation on the street is not a new situation. Distancing is second nature. Reaction become automatic. As one progresses the underly...

Defeating the terror of Mathematics

Namaste! If you are also one of those who has the fear of Mathematics then you have come to the correct place. Directly coming to the question, I talked with some students who feared solving maths problems and found that the main cause of this terror is skipping the basics. Most of the students with whom I had a talk, were not clear with their basics. I remember I had a classmate who didn't even know how to divide numbers but was studying topics like HCF & LCM. It was for sure that he won't be able to score in the tests and the same did happen. The key to getting rid of this terror is to make the basics clear and then gradually proceed to the higher-level questions. Start with the basic level problems, study and understand the theory properly, move to the next topic and repeat this process. Just make sure you are following the order and not skipping anything. Following this method, you will soon build up confidence as you keep on increasing your level. Consistency i...
